Young woman killed by boyfriend in apparent murder-suicide

MARLBOROUGH, MA – Tragedy erupted in Marlborough when a young Brazilian woman was killed Wednesday morning in an apparent murder-suicide. Kethlen Paula Alves Trindade DaRocha, 28, was reportedly shot by Marlon Moreira Costa, a 29-year-old man she’d been in a relationship with, in her home on Rice Street.

Evidence gathered by the police suggests that Costa forced his entry into DaRocha’s home via a window before shooting her and subsequently turning the gun to himself. A family friend, Junior Dantas, revealed to Boston 25 News that DaRocha moved to the United States less than two years ago seeking “the American dream.” He also mentioned that the couple had been dating for a few months.

The police disclosed that Costa threatened DaRocha at his Marlborough residence less than a day before her murder and threatened her again at her home just prior to the fatal shooting. Arriving officers were met by two women and a child outside DaRocha’s home, asserting that their female roommate had been shot.

Marlborough SWAT team forced entry into the front door of the home, locating two bodies inside. “She was a sweetheart,” Dantas said. “She took care of her whole family.”

Dantas has been in contact with DaRocha’s family in Brazil, including her mother, who, along with other relatives, will be traveling to Massachusetts for her wake in Framingham. However, DaRocha’s mother reportedly does not want to see her daughter’s body. Dantas mentioned that DaRocha will be cremated post the services, and her ashes will be sent to Governador Valadares in the countryside of Minas Gerais in Brazil.
