Woman murders her ex-husband at hotel

CHARLOTTE, NC – A violent encounter early Friday morning at a southwest Charlotte hotel has left a man dead, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department. Police responded to an emergency call at about 3:30 a.m. at the Embassy Suites on South Tryon Street. Upon arrival, they found 45-year-old Jamal Dade in the hotel parking lot suffering from a gunshot wound. Dade was rushed to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Following an investigation, police have identified and arrested the suspect, 41-year-old Shemeka Nicole Dade. Shemeka Dade has confessed to shooting her ex-husband, according to the affidavit. Court records show that the couple’s marriage was legally dissolved on April 9, just ten days prior to the fatal incident.

The affidavit also shared insights from a hotel guest who witnessed the tragic event unfold. This witness recounted hearing an argument between the pair, observing Jamal Dade provoke Shemeka from the passenger side of a car before she shot him.

Another witness, Jamal’s cousin, confirmed a similar version of events. She told detectives that Jamal Dade worked at the hotel and that she was present during the incident. According to her account, Shemeka placed a gun on the car armrest, warning Jamal Dade that she was ready to use it, before shooting him.

Hotel CCTV footage backed up these witness accounts, showing Shemeka Dade moving towards Jamal Dade in the front of the car before firing the fatal shot. Shemeka has been charged with murder and is being held in the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office.
