HOUSTON, TX – Late Wednesday night, a tragic shooting in the Greater Fifth Ward resulted in one death and wounded several individuals. Houston police confirmed that they responded to reports of gunfire near the 3400 block of Love Street at approximately 8:49 p.m.
When they arrived, officers discovered a female victim with at least one gunshot wound, who was unfortunately pronounced dead at the scene.
Moreover, while managing the scene of the shooting, another report came from the 3300 block of Sumpter Street where a male victim suffered minor injuries with a graze wound to his leg or ankle. This individual has been hospitalized and is in stable condition.
Subsequently, a third report emerged from the 4400 block of Wiley Street. A man apparently suffered a gunshot wound to his back, having been rushed to the hospital. He is reportedly in critical condition.
Authorities have reason to believe a feud between two families escalated into physical violence in the middle of Love Street. During the course of this altercation, at least one person reportedly wielded a rifle and fired off a series of rounds, injuring three individuals in the process.
Law enforcement stated that their immediate focus is speaking with eyewitnesses and obtaining surveillance footage to gain clarity around the incident. Houston police urge anyone with valuable information related to this event to come forward.
