Woman booked for murder charges after intentionally running over victim

SAN PABLO, CA – A woman from California is now facing murder charges following the death of a woman she is accused of deliberately running over with her vehicle, as per local law enforcement.

On December 8, around 2:30 p.m., the San Pablo Police Department responded to a distress call involving a pedestrian and a vehicle. Upon their arrival, they discovered a 60-year-old woman had been hit by a car, driven by Dene Blakely, 39, from Richmond, California.

The investigation revealed that Blakely had confronted the victim, accusing her of stealing a package from her residence. According to the authorities, Blakely then allegedly struck the victim with her vehicle intentionally.

The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital with critical injuries. Despite undergoing surgery, her condition remained critical and she passed away on December 23.

On December 12, the Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office initially charged Blakely with attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon. Following the victim’s death, the charges were upgraded to murder. Blakely is currently being held at the West County Detention Facility in Richmond with a bail set at $1 million.

The investigation into this incident is still ongoing.
