OAKLAND, CA – In a dramatic turn of events, a man suspected in a Sacramento murder was shot dead by the police in Oakland, a city situated 80 miles away, on Wednesday. The fatal shooting occurred after the suspect allegedly brandished a firearm upon exiting a house, as per official statements.
The Sacramento Police Department had sought the assistance of the Oakland Police Department in the arrest of a murder suspect. This was confirmed in a succinct statement released by the Oakland Police Department on Thursday.
Upon arriving in West Oakland, where the suspect was believed to be, the police officers began to secure the vicinity. The situation took a deadly turn when the man came out of a house, firearm in hand, prompting the officers to open fire.
Despite the immediate first aid provided by the officers and the swift arrival of emergency services, the man succumbed to his injuries on the spot.
The officers involved in the fatal shooting have been placed on paid administrative leave. The incident is currently being probed by the Oakland Police Department’s Homicide Section, Internal Affairs Division, and the Oakland Community Police Review Agency.
