Violent assault halted by armed citizen

In a dramatic turn of events at a Texas barbecue restaurant, a licensed firearm holder stepped in to halt a violent assault, shooting the alleged attacker who had reportedly rendered an elderly man unconscious in the restroom. The incident unfolded at Woody’s Smokehouse in Centerville, Texas, on the afternoon of August 14, as per the Leon County Sheriff’s Office.

The alleged assailant, Kevin Craig Anderson from Houston, entered the restaurant and began aggressively confronting several patrons. The situation took a dark turn when Anderson reportedly assaulted an elderly man in the restroom, knocking him unconscious and continuing his attack.

A bystander, legally armed, intervened in an attempt to halt Anderson’s assault on the unconscious man. Anderson, however, allegedly turned his aggression towards the armed man, knocking him down and continuing his assault.

In self-defense, the armed man discharged his weapon, firing two shots at Anderson. Anderson, wounded in the right arm, fled the scene in his vehicle. He was later located by authorities on the shoulder of a nearby highway and airlifted to a local hospital.

The incident is currently under investigation by both the sheriff’s department and Texas Rangers, as reported by local media.
