Venomous snake falls from the sky and attacks woman

A woman in Texas had a miraculous escape after a snake fell from the sky and landed on her, only to be attacked by a hawk. Peggy Jones, a resident of Silsbee, near Beaumont, was mowing her yard on August 1st when the unexpected incident occurred. In an interview, Jones described the terrifying ordeal and how she managed to survive.

According to Jones, she was initially attacked as she was operating a tractor. A snake suddenly dropped from the sky and latched onto her arm. In a desperate attempt to free herself, she waved her arms in the air. To her astonishment, a hawk swooped down and repeatedly clawed at her arm, trying to rip the snake off. Jones, overwhelmed by the situation, kept praying for help. Eventually, after about four attempts, the hawk successfully tore the snake away and flew off with it. Jones’s husband, alerted by the commotion, rushed to her aid.

Jones recounted that during the struggle, the snake even attempted to strike her eyeglasses. She believes the hawk intervened to protect her from the snake’s attack. Following the incident, Jones was taken to the hospital by her husband, where she received treatment for cuts and bruising caused by the snake’s grip. Despite the blood and snake venom, she considers herself incredibly fortunate to have survived the ordeal.

This is not the first time Jones has encountered danger from a snake. In recent years, she was bitten by a venomous snake. The specific type of snake that fell on her remains unknown. There are reportedly four venomous snake species in the state: coral snakes, copperheads, cottonmouths, and rattlesnakes.
