Three police officers shot dead while serving warrant

CHARLOTTE, NC – A fatal shooting that occurred on Monday in Charlotte, North Carolina, claimed the lives of three law enforcement officers who were serving a warrant, as confirmed by several law enforcement sources. The shooting involved a fugitive task force from the U.S. Marshals Service, which included officers from multiple agencies.

The task force was executing a warrant on east Charlotte’s Galway Drive in the 5000 block when they came under fire. According to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, the shooting resulted in the unfortunate death of two task force officers and a deputy from the Marshals Service. An estimated six people were shot during the incident.

Local residents were urged to avoid the vicinity as there was still active gunfire reported at the scene. As part of their emergency response, the police department dispatched a SWAT team to the area.

Tyler Wilson, a local resident, recounted the dramatic event. Wilson, who was working from home, reported hearing officers urging someone to exit a nearby house before the chaos erupted.

His account detailed a 30-minute-long shootout, during which SWAT team members and U.S. marshals established sniper positions in neighborhood residences. Social media videos corroborated his account, capturing multiple police cruisers and officers running at the scene.
