INDIANAPOLIS, IN – Tragedy struck Indianapolis on Monday when a 30-year-old woman, Chanti Dixon, was reported missing shortly after she took an Uber ride to return home from her workplace. The following day, her lifeless body was discovered in a residential part of the city. The autopsy revealed a gunshot injury, leading police to suspect foul play.
Investigations led straight to Francisco Valadez, a 29-year-old Uber driver, who is now under arrest, facing allegations of committing the heinous crime. Based on his driver log, Valadez was the last person to interact with Dixon.
According to the probable cause affidavit, Valadez attempted to mislead investigators with varying accounts of the incident. However, he eventually confessed to shooting Dixon whilst in his vehicle. His motivation for carrying out the act remains unclear.
Following his admission, Uber quickly distanced itself from Valadez, expelled him from their platform, and expressed its willingness to assist with the ongoing police investigations. They expressed their heartfelt condolences to Dixon’s bereaved family and promised to cooperate fully with the authorities.
Francisco Valadez remains in police custody and is set to make his court appearance on Thursday. Legal representation details are still pending.
