Two officers attacked with a knife, suspect shot and killed

SEDALIA, MO – A fatal shooting involving police officers occurred in the western Missouri town of Sedalia, resulting in the death of a knife-armed suspect and leaving two officers injured, according to investigative reports.

The incident, which took place on Saturday night, began with a disturbance call that led Sedalia officers to encounter an armed individual. The Missouri State Highway Patrol, who are conducting the investigation at the request of Sedalia’s police chief, identified the suspect as a 28-year-old male resident of Sedalia.

Upon arrival at the scene, officers found themselves in a confrontation with the knife-wielding suspect. As the situation escalated, an officer fired shots that fatally wounded the suspect who died at the location.

Missouri State Highway Patrol Cpl. Justin Ewing confirmed on Monday that both officers involved in the incident sustained stab wounds during the altercation. After receiving treatment at a local hospital, both officers have since been discharged.

Sedalia, a small town with a population of approximately 22,000, is located about 90 miles southeast of Kansas City, Missouri.
