Two Delta planes collide at the airport

ATLANTA, GA – On Tuesday morning, a Delta jet collided with a smaller plane while taxiing at the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. The wingtip of the Delta plane clipped the tail of the smaller aircraft. The contact between the two planes caused the latter’s tail to be entirely torn off.

Delta Air Lines Flight 295, which was positioned to launch its journey to Tokyo, found itself in an unfortunate encounter with Endeavor Air Flight 5526, a flight destined for Louisiana. This collision took place around 10:10 a.m. at the junction of two taxiways at the airport.

Confirming the incident, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and Delta added that the mishap thankfully did not result in any injuries. The passengers aboard both aircraft were physically unharmed by the collision.

Furthermore, an official representing the airport relayed that the incident had caused only minimal disruption to the airport’s operational capacity.

In a statement released by a spokesperson for the airport, “Passengers from one of the aircraft are being bussed from the incident to the concourses. The second aircraft taxied under its own power to a concourse where passengers will deplane at their gate.”
