PHOENIX, AZ – A fatal shooting took place in western Phoenix on Monday afternoon. This deadly shooting resulted in one death and two injuries, according to reports released by the Phoenix Police Department.
The scene of the incident outside an apartment complex drew a crowd of over a dozen people. They watched as the area was cordoned off by police tape and vehicles, restricting the public from access to the area where the gunfire broke out.
Officers responded to a call near 43rd Avenue and Thomas Road at around 2:15 p.m. Monday. Upon arrival, they found three individuals suffering from gunshot wounds, according to police.
Authorities confirmed one man was declared dead on the scene. The Phoenix Fire Department provided immediate transfer of the remaining two victims to local hospitals for critical treatment.
For a significant duration of Monday afternoon, the neighborhood was locked down for investigative purposes. One officer estimated that it could take up to 15 hours for the crime scene to be cleared.
