Three detained following armed carjacking crash

MIAMI, FL – Police have detained three suspects following an overnight carjacking that led to a dramatic crash early Tuesday morning. The incident unfolded around 2:15 a.m. when the suspects allegedly stole a silver Kia and subsequently crashed it into a wall on Southwest 22nd Avenue.

Authorities say the carjacking initially occurred near Southwest 17th Avenue and Fifth Street, just before 2 a.m. After the crash, the suspects fled on foot, prompting a manhunt that lasted several hours.

Miami Police Department officers, equipped with an armored vehicle and long guns, combed the neighborhood in search of the suspects. By morning, all three individuals had been apprehended. Police have confirmed that no injuries were reported in the incident.

On the scene, a young man was seen being handcuffed, though it remains unclear if he is directly connected to the carjacking. Investigators are working to determine his involvement, if any.

The stolen vehicle remained at the crash site while officers awaited a tow truck. The investigation continues as detectives aim to piece together the details of the crime.

Neighbors in the area expressed concern over the early morning commotion, though many were relieved that the suspects have been caught. Police are expected to release more information, including the identities of those involved, as the investigation progresses.

Authorities are urging anyone with additional information to come forward as they work to close the case.
