Therapist accused of murder after dead body was found in his trunk

DELAND, FL – A local therapist in DeLand has been held without bond on a charge of first-degree premeditated murder. Travis McBride is accused of shooting a man to death. The victim of the shooting has been identified as 51-year-old Clinton Dorsey.

Authorities received the initial murder call on Thursday morning. One caller reported seeing McBride clean up blood from the scene. Police are yet to determine a clear motive, though according to DeLand’s Police Chief Jason Umberger, there might have been an ongoing dispute between McBride and Dorsey.

The victim’s body was found in the trunk of McBride’s car by police police officers. Eyewitnesses reported seeing McBride dragging the body across the road in an effort to conceal the evidence of the murder. They also saw him loading the victim’s corpse into his car and later returning to clean up the area where the incident initially occurred.

McBride was apprehended near the site of the shooting. He was found at a nearby shopping center where he worked and lived. Investigators needed to break a window in order to gain entry to the crime scene.

At this time, it remains unclear how this business is related to the shooting as police continue their investigations into the fatal incident.
