PHOENIX, AZ – A disturbing incident unfolded in a north Phoenix neighborhood as a man confessed to killing his parents, leaving local residents shocked. Phoenix law enforcement authorities received a distressing emergency call and arrived at the scene, a residence near State Route 51 and Bell Road, shortly before 5:15 a.m. on February 12.
Upon arrival, police officers encountered a man exiting the home, who claimed there were dead bodies inside, according to Phoenix Police Sgt. Phil Krynsky.
A subsequent search of the residence revealed the lifeless bodies of a man and a woman, both of whom appeared to have died from gunshot wounds. The victims were identified as Sam Miller, 73, and Marjorie Valentine, 72.
The initial caller, identified as the victims’ 38-year-old son, Jim Miller, initially suggested that his father had killed his mother before shooting himself. Yet, upon being detained and questioned by investigators, Jim Miller reversed his initial account and confessed to shooting his parents sometime during the night. The 38-year-old man was arrested and subsequently charged with two counts of first-degree murder.
Another individual was present in the home during the incident but was confirmed uninjured.
The shocking event has left the neighborhood in a state of unrest, with local resident Vivian Brown expressing her distress at the occurrence of such a violent incident in their normally quiet community.
