SAN ANTONIO, TX – A startling sight turned deadly last Wednesday when police were called to the Frontera Crossing Apartments on the Southwest Side of San Antonio. Officers arrived in response to reports of a disturbance involving a naked woman. They soon discovered a horrifying scene- the dead body of a 6-year-old girl.
The woman causing the upset was identified as 36-year-old Nephiterea Sancho. However, the greater shock lay in the tragic fate of her daughter, Hosanna Sancho. The young girl was pronounced dead, succumbing to a severe injury of unknown origin. Authorities are now diligently trying to piece together the circumstances leading up to the child’s untimely death.
Hosanna’s family shared memories of a joyful child full of aspirations. They conveyed, “she played the violin, learned how to do the perfect cartwheels, and was teaching her cousins how to do it too. She loved to swim and loved the water. She wanted to be a cheerleader and ride the school bus for the first time, and she never got to do that.”
Sancho, now in custody, was charged with capital murder of a child under 10. However, her shocking behavior isn’t entirely new.
The history of Sancho, revealed to be pregnant, traces back to about 14 years ago when she was arrested and charged with injuring a child while reportedly choking a 3-year-old niece. Consequently, she was found not guilty by reason of insanity. As a result, she was committed to a mental health facility.
