Seven people hit by gunfire in drive-by at nightclub

HOUSTON, TX – A late-night shooting outside a southeast Houston nightclub has left two people dead and five others injured, as police continue their search for the suspect. The incident occurred just before midnight at Bugs Bar, located on Dixie Drive near Loose Street, close to the Gulf Freeway and 610.

Authorities believe a drive-by shooting took place when a gray or silver four-door sedan pulled up to the club and opened fire on a crowd gathered outside. One victim was pronounced dead at the scene, while another succumbed to injuries at the hospital. Some victims managed to reach medical facilities on their own, while others were transported by emergency services.

The scene remains active as investigators work to gather evidence. Crime scene markers and police vehicles are visible along Dixie Drive, as officers meticulously piece together the events of the night.

This tragic event adds to a troubling history of violence at the nightclub. In March, another fatal shooting occurred at the same location following a dispute inside that escalated outside, resulting in a man’s death.

Houston Police Department is urging anyone with information about the latest incident to come forward. They are particularly interested in any details regarding the vehicle involved in the drive-by shooting.

As the investigation continues, the community remains on edge, grappling with the recurring violence at the venue. The police have increased their presence in the area, hoping to prevent further incidents and bring those responsible to justice.

The nightclub is known to attract large crowds, particularly on weekends, raising concerns about safety and security among patrons and nearby residents.

Officials are appealing to the public for cooperation, emphasizing the importance of community involvement in solving crimes and enhancing neighborhood safety.
