A tragic incident occurred in the Fort Washington, Washington D.C. area Thursday, when a pregnant woman was the victim of a targeted shooting. 22-year-old Samya Gill, of Fort Washington, and an accompanying man were in a parked vehicle when two suspects armed with guns jumped out of a different car and started shooting.
Both Gill and the man were struck multiple times, and the man received non-life-threatening injuries. Unfortunately, Gill perished from her wounds and gave birth before passing away. Her child has been hospitalized in critical condition.
After reviewing the area’s surveillance videos, Police Assistant Chief of Patrol Services, Andre Wright, reported at the scene that the shooting appeared to be “targeted,” but the motivation remains unknown at this time.
Just days prior to Samya’s death, a pregnant woman in Seattle WA had been shot to death at a traffic stop.
The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) is now on the hunt for the shooters and encourages anyone with information to contact them.
