CHANDLER, AZ – A tense police chase in Chandler erupted into a deadly shooting this morning, creating chaos at a bustling intersection during peak traffic hours. The drama began when a suspect, wanted for robbing a gas station, attempted a home invasion near McQueen Road.
The suspect, already known to authorities, fled in a black sedan, initiating a pursuit from Fry Road. The chase intensified as the suspect collided with a police vehicle, drawing a swift response from law enforcement.
The pursuit concluded near Pecos and McQueen Roads, where the suspect exited the car brandishing a firearm. Witnesses described a harrowing scene as officers engaged the suspect, resulting in his death on-site.
One witness, escorting his child to school, recounted the unfolding chaos. “At first, it seemed like a crash,” he explained. “Then we saw officers with rifles, shouting at the car. They fired pepper balls, and soon after, shots rang out.”
The area saw significant traffic disruption as authorities closed the intersection to investigate. Fortunately, no officers were harmed during the incident.
