One dead and one injured following explosive crash

PHOENIX, AZ – A violent multi-vehicle collision near a Phoenix intersection has resulted in one fatality and another person injured. The incident occurred just before 1 p.m. on February 29, at the junction of 67th Avenue and Fillmore Street.

Local law enforcement reports indicate that a car, driven by 19-year-old David Juarez, collided with several parked vehicles before subsequently catching fire. Juarez was declared dead at the scene, while a passenger in the car was rushed to a nearby hospital with injuries, thankfully not life-threatening.

In a twist to the tragic event, Phoenix Police are investigating a potential link between the crash and a reported shooting at a nearby residence. “We found evidence of a shooting at a nearby home,” stated Sgt. Mayra Reeson. “Despite a thorough search of the premises, we found no additional victims or suspects.”

A surveillance camera in the vicinity captured the horrifying incident. Alyssa Ingram, a local resident, recounted the chilling scene, “The Camry was underneath my car. My car was thrown in the opposite direction, and the vehicles caught fire. A man then jumped out of one of the burning cars. It was a terrifying sight.”

Further footage reveals a man exiting one of the wrecked cars, pleading for help and claiming he had been shot. A friend was reportedly taking him to the hospital. Witnesses described the scene as the flames grew higher, with one local attempting to douse the fire.

Phoenix Police are urging anyone with information regarding the incident to contact Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS or 480-TESTIGO for Spanish speakers.
