HOLLYWOOD, CA – A family is in mourning after a young woman was severely beaten while working at a Hollywood convenience store. Jessica McLaughlin, 24, an assistant manager at a local 7-Eleven, was assaulted by her supervisor last week. Now on life support, her family is grappling with the tragedy and seeking answers.
Jessica’s father, Clancy McLaughlin, described her as having a big heart, always putting family first and helping those in need. “I used to call her my green-haired warrior,” he said, recalling her generosity in feeding the homeless and providing clothing to those in need.
The incident occurred last Tuesday as Jessica was finishing her shift. According to her father, the supervisor attacked her, grabbing her by the hair and violently throwing her to the ground. Witnesses say the attacker then sat on Jessica’s chest and continued the assault.
A coworker attempted to intervene, but the supervisor allegedly turned on them as well. Despite the chaos, Jessica managed to stand and pleaded for someone to call 911, saying she couldn’t breathe. Tragically, she collapsed shortly afterward.
Authorities responded to the scene and are actively searching for the suspect. Clancy McLaughlin revealed that the attacker attempted to delete security footage of the incident before fleeing the scene.
The McLaughlin family is preparing to say their final goodbyes on Wednesday when they plan to remove Jessica from life support. “We’ll try to get everyone who can to the hospital to say their last goodbyes,” Clancy said.
A GoFundMe page has been established to assist with funeral expenses, and the family is urging anyone with information on the whereabouts of the suspect to contact the police.
As the investigation continues, the community is left in shock, rallying around the family during this devastating time.
