Newborn baby discovered dead in garbage truck

HOUSTON, TX – Residents of a northwest Harris County suburb are distraught following a chilling discovery Wednesday morning- the body of a newborn infant discarded in a garbage truck. The heartbreaking scene unfolded at around 9:30 a.m. in the 13200 block of Fountaincrest Court, within the Chimney Hill subdivision.

Authorities from the Harris County Sheriff’s Office have suggested that the baby boy was somewhere between one day old and 30 days old. “They got to a point where they had started to repack trash,” stated Sgt. Sidney Miller, describing the sanitation workers’ ordeal when they discovered the infant among the waste.

Cheryl Boen, a local resident, related her shock on acknowledging that the news images emerging on her television screen were indeed from the area outside her house. Sgt. Miller foresees an extensive investigation, involving conversations with hundreds of homeowners spanning the 400-500 residences within the vicinity. The investigating officers also plan to examine the remaining contents of the truck, hoping to find additional leads.

Local resident Germany Scott, a mother-to-be herself, expressed her disbelief and distress at the incident. She highlighted the existence of the ‘Baby Moses Law’ in Texas, which allows parents in distress to anonymously abandon newborns at designated safe havens like hospitals, fire stations, or emergency medical services.

The Harris County Sheriff’s Office and Crime Stoppers of Houston have invited any information related to the incident and reminded locals that they can leave anonymous tips.
