ONTARIO, CA – A tragic collision on the 10 Freeway in Ontario has left three people dead and several others injured after a crash involving two semi-trucks and multiple vehicles. The incident occurred earlier today, causing significant traffic delays and closures in the area.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a total of eight vehicles were involved in the crash, including four big rigs. Emergency responders are still on the scene, working to clear the wreckage, which includes a severely mangled car where at least two of the fatalities occurred.
Initial reports indicated four fatalities, but authorities have since confirmed that three individuals lost their lives. Four others sustained injuries, with two victims currently hospitalized with serious conditions.
A witness described the chaotic scene, recounting how one of the truck drivers attempted to brake but collided forcefully into another truck, impacting two additional cars. Among the injured was a man who was fixing a flat tire when debris from the crash struck him.
His primary concern was for his wife, who was in a nearby pickup truck. In a desperate attempt to reach her, he ran toward the crash site, suffering severe cuts from flying debris. He was transported to the hospital for treatment.
The freeway remains closed, with all lanes blocked except for the express lane, which authorities have opened to alleviate the traffic congestion. However, there is no estimate yet on when the entire roadway will reopen.
Investigators are diligently working to determine the precise cause of this deadly multi-vehicle accident. In the meantime, drivers are advised to expect severe delays and consider alternative routes.
Traffic updates will continue to be provided as more information becomes available.
