Mother of twins fatally shot after violent altercation at Florida bar

Fatal gunfire broke out at Mugs & Jugs bar in Pensacola, Florida. A mother of twins was shot to death following a brutal assault by a man and his girlfriend. The altercation began as a fight between Tierra Binion, 25, and Rachel DeRise, 23, before escalating outside into the parking lot. The situation turned deadly when Christian Ketchup, DeRise’s boyfriend, intervened in the conflict.

According to Escambia County Sheriff Chip Simmons, the initial fight was “mutually combatant” until Christian Ketchup, DeRise’s boyfriend, intervened with a punch that left Binion unconscious. Despite Binion’s unconscious state, DeRise allegedly continued her assault, jumping on Binion and relentlessly striking her defenseless body. The situation took a horrifying turn when Ketchup pulled out a handgun and fired seven rounds at Binion, resulting in her immediate death.

Following the shooting, Ketchup promptly called the police and surrendered himself. He has since been charged with murder and is being held without bail. DeRise, on the other hand, has been charged with battery for her involvement in the fight but was released on Thursday after posting a $15,000 bond.

Sheriff Simmons expressed his shock at the unnecessary violence, stating that Ketchup’s actions were unwarranted. He emphasized that walking away from the situation would have been a far more appropriate response. Mug & Jugs bar and drive-through temporarily closed its doors following the incident.

Binion’s sister, Diamond Johnson, described her as a “sweet soul” and expressed her devastation at the loss. Binion split her time between Florida and Virginia with her husband and their four-year-old sons. She had aspirations of joining the military, according to her sister.
