Massage parlor employee murdered at work

MIDVALE, UT – Authorities have released details about a murder in Midvale, where a woman was found dead in early January in what police have described as a “brutal homicide.” The victim, identified as Yuping Jiao, 45, was attacked and stabbed multiple times at A+ Massage on Jan. 4.

The Unified Police Department (UPD) stated that the circumstances surrounding the crime are deeply concerning. Yuping was working alone at the time, and the motive behind her murder remains unknown.

UPD investigators have identified several individuals who may be connected to the case but are still determining their level of involvement. No suspects have been named, and no arrests have been made. UPD has issued a warning to massage spas in the area, urging extreme caution and the reporting of any suspicious interactions with clients to local authorities.

Police have not indicated whether the stabbing was a random act, a hate crime, or a crime of passion. The department is seeking public assistance and asks anyone who witnessed anything noteworthy or concerning in the area of 7000 to 8000 South and State Street on Jan. 4 to come forward and contact the police.
