CHICAGO, IL – In a shocking incident that unfolded in Chicago’s Little Village neighborhood, a 30-year-old man lost his life after being shot and subsequently crashing his vehicle into a T-Mobile store. The victim, identified as Christian Ruiz, was at a red light when he was ambushed by three unidentified individuals in a dark-colored vehicle.
Despite suffering a gunshot wound to his chest, Ruiz attempted to flee his attackers, resulting in his vehicle colliding with a nearby T-Mobile store. Remarkably, three children aged 8, 6, and 3, who were in the vehicle during the shooting and crash, escaped without injuries.
Ruiz was transported to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he later died from his injuries. Those who knew Ruiz described him as a devoted family man. A former high school classmate, who asked to remain anonymous, expressed her shock and sorrow over the tragic event.
The community, along with Ruiz’s friends and family, are now left to grapple with their loss. The friend expressed her deep sadness and extended her sympathies to the bereaved family.
Chicago Police Department reports indicate that the perpetrators fled the scene, heading down W. Cermack Road and S. Rockwell Street. The investigation is ongoing, with no arrests made at this time.
