DOWNEY, CA – A shocking sequence of events unfolded today, starting with a fatal stabbing outside the Downey Library and escalating into the theft of an ambulance. The incident began around 9:30 a.m. when an argument between two men turned deadly just steps from the library’s entrance.
Witnesses reported that during the altercation, one of the men, wearing a flannel shirt, pulled out a knife and fatally stabbed the other. The attacker, identified as a 23-year-old homeless man, fled the scene but was quickly apprehended near Downey High School, located behind the library.
In a bizarre twist, as paramedics attended to the victim, an unrelated individual took the opportunity to steal the ambulance parked nearby. The suspect, a 52-year-old man, sped away from the scene, leading police on a ten-mile chase.
