INDIANAPOLIS, IN – A fatal shooting incident that took place on Friday night in Indianapolis’s southeast side is currently under investigation by local police. Officers were dispatched from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) to the 3300 block of Spring Wind Lane around 7:45 p.m. following reports of a person being shot.
On arrival, authorities discovered a man with gunshot wounds who was sitting in the driver’s seat of a parked vehicle in the neighborhood. The man was confirmed dead at the scene by IMPD around 8 p.m.
The assailant, who fled the scene in a different vehicle shortly after the shooting, remains at large. Police have yet to release any description of the suspect or the vehicle involved.
Based on the preliminary information available, IMPD believes this was a targeted attack. Unfortunately, no witnesses have come forward to provide information as it appears nobody saw the actual shooting occur.
The IMPD reassured the community that there is currently no active threat to the neighborhood as the investigation into the fatal shooting continues.
