A late-night outbreak of violence in Pennsylvania took place on Friday night. The shooting in Westmoreland County left one woman dead and at least four others injured.
Authorities have declared two persons of interest in the case, and both are deemed armed and dangerous. Police have not yet taken either of them into custody.
The incident occurred around 9:30 p.m. on Lowry Avenue in Jeannette, shaking the quiet residential block. The county’s coroner’s office later confirmed the unfortunate death of a woman in the shooting.
The deceased was identified as 25-year-old Brianna Kate Lartz from Jeannette. Both the coroner’s office and the county district attorney’s office confirmed she was found dead at the scene.
Meanwhile, three of the injured were transported to Forbes Hospital in Monroeville, while a fourth individual arrived at AHN Hempfield before being airlifted to a Pittsburgh hospital. As of Saturday, all four survivors are projected to recover, as stated by the District Attorney’s office.
Authorities have named 25-year-old Deshawn Russell as one of the persons of interest in connection to the shooting. Russell stands 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighs around 170 pounds. He was last spotted donning a white T-shirt and dark trousers.
The second person of interest remains unidentified. They were last seen wearing a dark shirt and blue jeans. Both individuals are known to frequent the Wilkinsburg, Braddock, and Uniontown areas.
District Attorney Nicole Ziccarelli commented on the active status of the investigation, urging the public to stay alert.
As of now, the coroner’s office has not revealed the cause or manner of Lartz’s death. Details regarding her funeral remain unannounced.
State police have urged anyone with information about the shooting to contact the Jeannette police or Westmoreland County detectives.
