Nick Codutti faces two charges stemming from allegations involving a former Tomball High School student and incidents dating to 2018 and 2019.
HOUSTON, TX — Klein ISD terminated Klein High School head football coach and athletic coordinator Nick Codutti after authorities arrested him on charges stemming from allegations of sexual abuse involving a former Tomball High School student, according to law enforcement, court records and the school district.
Nicholas Alan Codutti, 43, is charged with indecency with a child and sexual performance by a child, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office. Authorities said the alleged incidents connected to the charges occurred in Harris County in 2018 and 2019, when Codutti worked for Tomball ISD. He was arrested Saturday, Sept. 26, and booked into the Harris County Jail. The allegations have not been proven in court, and Codutti is presumed innocent unless convicted.
The investigation began April 29 after Child Protective Services received a report alleging sexual abuse involving a former Tomball ISD student who had been a minor, authorities said. Investigators later developed information indicating the alleged conduct began while the former student was underage and continued for several years. Court records reported by Houston-area news organizations say the former student told investigators she was 16 when the alleged relationship began.
Codutti worked at Tomball High School from 2017 to 2021. The allegations that resulted in the criminal charges date to that period and do not stem from his employment at Klein High School or Fulshear High School, according to the available court records and reporting on the investigation. Codutti later became head coach at Fulshear before Klein ISD hired him as Klein High School’s head football coach and athletic coordinator in January 2025.
Klein ISD had already removed Codutti from contact with students months before his arrest. In May, after district officials learned an outside agency was investigating allegations that predated his Klein employment, the district told Klein High School families that Codutti had been asked to step away from campus. The district later said he remained on administrative leave and away from students while the investigation continued.
After law enforcement notified Klein ISD that criminal charges had been accepted, the district terminated Codutti’s employment. In a message to families, Klein ISD said Codutti had completed required background checks and received positive professional references before he was hired. The district said it had no information at the time of his hiring about the alleged conduct that later resulted in charges.
Tomball ISD had also notified families about the investigation when the allegations became public earlier this year. The district said in May that it had learned about the allegations through law enforcement and that no complaints, concerns or reports of misconduct involving Codutti had been brought forward while he worked for Tomball ISD. Tomball officials said at the time that the district was cooperating with investigators.
Harris County investigators filed the charges against Codutti on Sept. 25. Members of the sheriff’s office Violent Criminal Apprehension Team, assisted by District 1 patrol deputies, took him into custody the following day. The arrest followed an investigation by detectives handling crimes against children.
The Harris County Sheriff’s Office said the investigation remains ongoing. Authorities have not announced the outcome of the criminal case, and the charges remain allegations that prosecutors would have to prove in court. Klein ISD said the criminal allegations relate to Codutti’s employment in another school district before he joined Klein.
