Human trafficker captured after living off fake ID for two decades

NEW YORK CITY, NY – A man suspected of human trafficking, who has been evading law enforcement for decades under a false identity, was apprehended in New York City last month, according to an announcement by authorities on Friday.

The suspect, known as Feng Jiang, was taken into custody on October 24, in connection with an outstanding warrant related to a human trafficking probe led by the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics (OBN). It was later discovered that Jiang had been living under an alias, complete with a fabricated birth date, for over two decades.

Upon his extradition to Oklahoma earlier this month, a fingerprint analysis conducted by Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) confirmed his true identity as Le Feng Jiang. The analysis also unveiled a Final Order of Deportation issued against him in 2001, along with a current outstanding Deportation warrant, as divulged by OBN Director Donnie Anderson.

Jiang came under the radar of OBN following a tip-off concerning suspected sex trafficking at a supposed brothel in a residential area in northwest Oklahoma City in October 2022.

OBN’s investigation revealed that Jiang had been issued a final order of deportation in 2001. However, he managed to stay in the country by using a false identity for more than two decades.

The alleged brothel was under surveillance by investigators who deduced that approximately a dozen women were trafficked there between October 2022 and February 2023.

Jiang, along with another man named Jian Lin, were identified as the operators of the brothel. Evidence indicated that the clientele primarily consisted of managers and administrators from commercial marijuana farms.

While Jiang is now in custody, Lin remains at large and is suspected to be in the Oklahoma City area, according to authorities. Jiang is charged with continuing to traffic women in Oklahoma, despite residing in New York as of October 2023.

Both Jiang and Lin were indicted on two counts of human trafficking in September. Lin also faces charges in Canadian County related to a recent arrest for distributing the drug ketamine. Despite Jiang’s arrest in New York City last month, Lin continues to evade multiple warrants in Oklahoma.
