DALLAS, TX – The early morning calm in Dallas was shattered when a gunman opened fire at an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility, before turning the weapon on himself. Federal investigators have confirmed that the attack was deliberately aimed at ICE, with messages found at the scene underscoring the intent.
Emergency vehicles converged on the site as officials began piecing together the events. The shooter, positioned on a rooftop across the street, unleashed a barrage of bullets at the building, indiscriminately targeting the facility and a nearby van.
Homeland Security reported that three detainees were hit, and tragically, one has succumbed to their injuries. The FBI is treating the incident as a targeted act of violence, with Director Cash Patel sharing images of shell casings bearing anti-ICE messages.
This attack marks the third time in recent months that Texas immigration facilities have been targeted. Previous incidents in July also resulted in injuries, including those to law enforcement officers.
Senator Ted Cruz and ICE officials have condemned the political rhetoric they believe is fueling such violence. They urge an end to the demonization of ICE and Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officials.
While no law enforcement officers were injured during this latest attack, the event has heightened tensions and prompted calls for increased security measures.
As investigators continue to gather evidence, the community grapples with the implications of repeated violence aimed at immigration facilities, hoping for swift justice and a return to safety.
