LONG BEACH, CA – A fatal traffic accident occurred in Long Beach, claiming the life of a 4-year-old girl who was hit by a pickup truck, according to authorities on Saturday.
The Long Beach Police Department responded to an emergency call regarding the traffic collision incident around 7 p.m. Friday in the area of 55th Way and Paramount Boulevard. When they arrived at the scene deadly collision, police found the little girl lying on the road.
“Officers transported the child to a local hospital while attempting life-saving measures, however she succumbed to her injuries,” the police department informed.
The child was crossing 55th Way, just outside of a crosswalk, when she was hit by the pickup truck heading eastbound on 55th Way, just west of Paramount Boulevard.
The truck, a 2020 Ford F-150, was driven by a 25-year-old man from Downey. The man reportedly remained at the scene and cooperated with the ongoing investigation.
Investigators concluded that factors such as speed, distraction, or impaired driving were likely not involved in the crash.
