MIAMI GARDENS, FL – After Sunday night’s Dolphins game, one person was killed in a shooting that took place in close proximity to the Hard Rock Stadium. The Miami Gardens Police are currently investigating the incident, which happened around midnight on Monday near a Starbucks on Northwest 27th Avenue. This location is just south of 199th Street, adjacent to parking lot 42, designated for ride-sharing services during the stadium events.
Upon receiving reports of a shooting, emergency units were dispatched to the scene. There, they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite administering chest compressions, Miami Dade Fire Rescue pronounced the victim dead at the scene.
Initial reports from the ongoing investigation suggest that an altercation between the victim and his friends and an unidentified individual led to the tragic incident. The altercation escalated when the individual exited their vehicle and fired several gunshots at the victim before fleeing in an unspecified direction.
Witness accounts revealed that two groups were seen arguing prior to the sound of at least six gunshots. The gunfire caused panic, with people in the vicinity scattering to avoid being hit.
An eyewitness who chooses to remain anonymous described the incident as “just terrible.” She highlighted that the context was “just a sports game” and that such violence, particularly resulting in a loss of life, was unwarranted.
A few hours after the incident, around 4 a.m. Monday, the body was removed from the parking lot by a medical examiner as police wrapped up their on-site investigations. More information surrounding the incident is being gathered by authorities.
