ANDERSON COUNTY, SC – The Anderson County Sheriff’s Office in South Carolina has made a breakthrough in a six-year-old murder case involving four family members. The office announced the arrest and charging of Amy Vilardi and her husband, Rosmore “Ross” Vilardi, with the murders of Amy’s mother, Cathy Scott, Cathy’s husband, Michael “Mike” Scott, Mike’s mother, Barbara Scott, and Cathy’s mother, Violet Taylor.
Sheriff Chad McBride reported that the couple were arrested at their residence in Columbia, South Carolina. After their arrest, they were transported back to Anderson County to respond to the charges.
The quartet were discovered shot dead at their home on Refuge Road in Pendleton on November 2, 2015. The County Coroner, Greg Shore, said the evidence suggested the family was likely murdered on Oct. 31, 2015, with no signs of forced entry into the residence or indications of a struggle.
In an interview with WYFF News 4 back in 2015, Amy Vilardi claimed she had discovered the bodies. “When I went to knock on the back door, the door just pushed open so I walked in and it was dark and I just flipped on the light and there they were. They were just, there were there,” she stated.
Sheriff Chad McBride noted in 2017 that there were suspects in the case. Although he didn’t mention them by name at that point, the Vilardis, who lived separately on the Refuge Road property, had remained persons of interest.
