A mother and three daughters were killed in suburban Chicago

TINLEY PARK, IL – In a disturbing event that has left a suburban Chicago community reeling, a mother and her three adult daughters were found dead in what authorities are calling a domestic-related shooting. The victims were named as 53-year-old Majeda Kassem and her daughters, twins Halema and Zahia Kassem, 25, and Hanan Kassem, 24.

The incident unfolded on Sunday morning around 11:30 a.m., when a 911 call led to the arrest of a male suspect at the residence, as reported by the Tinley Park Public Safety Department. The village, home to roughly 55,000 people, lies about 30 miles southwest of Chicago.

The authorities have assured the community that the suspect is in custody and the scene is secure. The identity of the male suspect is yet to be released, but a firearm was found at the scene of the crime.

Pat Carr, the Village Manager of Tinley Park, expressed his dismay over the tragic incident, revealing that there were no prior police calls to the residence. He emphasized the profound impact of the tragedy on the close-knit community and its residents.

Neighbors disclosed that two adult sons also lived in the residence. One of the neighbors, Charlotte Vaitkus, shared her daughter’s connection with the family, stating that her daughter knew the eldest son and had employed the twin sisters. She described the family as highly intelligent with lofty life aspirations.
