18-year-old female fire cadet faces terrorism charges for ‘hit list’

SIDNEY, IA – In a shocking revelation, an 18-year-old fire cadet, Kaelyn Alexis Surrell, from Sidney, Iowa, is under investigation for allegedly creating a threatening “hit list”. The list reportedly contains names of students and staff from Sidney High School, where she studies, and other community members.

The Fremont County Sheriff’s Office reports that Surrell not only devised the list but also expressed intentions to commit arson against the individuals named therein. The list was reportedly shared with at least one other person through the social media platform, Snapchat, as reported by local station KCRG.

The authorities suggest that Surrell’s list comprises of individuals she had unpleasant encounters with, providing a possible motive for her actions. Her position as a cadet with the Shenandoah Fire Department could have potentially provided her with the necessary knowledge to carry out the arson threats.

On December 26, Surrell was taken into custody, facing seven counts of threatening terrorism, a felony. She is currently being held on a $5,000 bond. As the investigation is still underway, it’s important to remember that Surrell is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
