HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA – An Arizona man has been taken into custody on suspicion of murder following the discovery of a woman’s body in the trunk of a car parked outside a residence in Huntington Beach, according to the local police.
The incident unfolded on Monday around 5:15 p.m. when officers responded to a report of a family disturbance in the 17000 block of Friml Lane. Upon arrival, police found themselves in a disturbing situation as they secured the area. During their initial investigation, officers came across the lifeless body of an adult female, with the circumstances surrounding her death raising suspicions.
Detectives associated with the Crimes Against Persons Unit were summoned to the scene to further investigate the matter. News footage depicted investigators meticulously examining the vehicle’s trunk parked outside the residence.
Collaborating agencies, including the Orange County District Attorney’s Office, the Orange County Sheriff’s Department-Coroner Division, and the Crime Lab, also joined the investigation. As a result of their inquiries and evidence discovered at the scene, 34-year-old Richard Paul Rodriguez of Holbrook, Arizona, was arrested and subsequently booked on one count of PC 187(a) Murder.
The identity of the deceased woman is being withheld until her next of kin is notified. The investigation remains ongoing, with authorities refraining from releasing additional details at this time.
