Woman shot at Amazon fulfillment center

MATTESON, IL – A shooting occurred at an Amazon fulfillment center in Matteson, Illinois, leaving a 33-year-old woman with a non-life-threatening injury, according to local authorities. The incident occurred shortly after 9:30 p.m. Sunday at the facility located at 7001 Vollmer Road.

Matteson Police reported that the woman sustained a graze wound to her head and was quickly transported to Advocate Christ Hospital for treatment. Investigators believe the shooting may have been in retaliation for an unreported altercation that happened earlier in the evening in the facility’s parking lot among employees.

Following the incident, numerous employees were seen exiting the building, though none provided specifics about the events that transpired inside.

Police have assured the public that there is no ongoing threat to nearby residences or businesses, describing the shooting as an isolated incident. The scene has been processed by detectives, who are continuing with their investigation.

This is not the first incident of violence at this Amazon location. Two years ago, police were called to the same fulfillment center for a gunfire exchange in the parking lot, which luckily resulted in no injuries.

As of now, Amazon has not responded to requests for comment on the incident.
