Woman murdered with a hammer inside QuikTrip gas station bathroom

CHARLOTTE, NC – A grisly murder at a Charlotte gas station became local news on Sunday, with investigators revealing a hammer to be the weapon used. The horrific incident happened late Saturday night in the restroom of a QuikTrip gas station located in northeast Charlotte.

The deceased victim, Glandina Latamba Dixon, aged 47, bore severe head injuries and was found dead at the scene when Medic responded. Police recount a chilling 911 call made from the bathroom where Dixon was found, reporting profuse bleeding from her head and a bloody floor. Death due to blunt-force trauma was confirmed at approximately 11:23 p.m.

Detailed scrutiny of the gas station’s CCTV footage unveiled suspicious activities prior to the murder. A black male was seen exiting a black Ford pickup truck and tailing Dixon into QuikTrip. Shortly, the man retrieved what appeared to be a hammer from his truck, re-entered the station, and made a beeline for the women’s bathroom.

Reports suggest that the suspect spent less than a minute in the restroom before making his exit and driving away from the gas station.

Following extensive inquiries, law enforcement officials charged Sam Roary, 53, with Dixon’s first-degree murder. Investigation evidence pointed to Roary having had a past relationship with Dixon. Currently, Roary is being held at the Mecklenburg County jail. His bail is now set at $1 million.
