Woman fatally shot at her desk during lunch break

LEWISVILLE, TX – A fatal shooting occurred at a workplace in Lewisville on Thursday, resulting in the death of a woman and the arrest of a male suspect.

Lewisville police received a report of an active shooter around 11:30 a.m. at the business location. Witnesses recounted the traumatic event, stating that the woman was shot while seated at her desk during her lunch break.

“I was in my office and I watched a bunch of our CID officers go running out saying there’s an active shooter at 1825 Lakeway,” explained Rachel Roberts, the Public Information Officer for the Lewisville Police Department. The incident took place in close proximity to the police department, which shares a parking area with Allegiance Trucks.

Authorities arrived swiftly, finding the suspect inside the building surrendering to police without resistance. Investigators retrieved a firearm at the scene.

The victim, a female employee, was transported to a hospital for treatment. However, she later succumbed to her injuries. Police are yet to clarify the relationship between the victim and the perpetrator, except to confirm they were acquainted in some capacity. “We still haven’t got a clear picture of what their relationship was, if they even had a relationship,” continued Roberts.

A damaged door handle at the business’s entrance raises questions about whether it was caused by police intervention, the shooter, or another party. Access to the building seemingly requires a security code or badge, although it remains uncertain if the suspect had such authorization to enter.

Detectives have begun interviewing numerous witnesses to piece together the details of the incident. “Some witnesses were present inside, others were outside, while many were simply nearby during the unfolding of the event,” said Roberts.
