HOUSTON, TX – A dramatic sequence of events unfolded starting outside a Houston police station, leading to the arrest of a Texas woman in Alabama. Chioma Agurd, 39, faces multiple charges after allegedly shooting her ex-boyfriend in the presence of police officers.
In the early hours of Friday, a call alerted police to a distressing situation involving a group of people in a pickup truck. They reported being pursued by an armed woman in a Mercedes SUV. The pursuit ended outside the Bellaire Police Department as the group attempted to evade confrontation.
When officers arrived on the scene, Agurd circled the truck and allegedly fired several shots, critically injuring a passenger seated in the front. The officers returned fire at Agurd, who then fled the scene, driving toward Chimney Rock Road.
The chase extended into Alabama, where state troopers identified Agurd’s vehicle on Interstate 65 near Montgomery. Despite attempts to stop her, she continued leading officers on a 22-mile pursuit that concluded in Pine Level.
Even after pulling over, Agurd initially refused to exit her vehicle. Footage from the scene shows officers with weapons drawn before she was eventually detained and escorted to a patrol car.
Agurd was subsequently booked into the Montgomery County Jail, facing felony charges for attempting to elude police. Additionally, she faces two aggravated assault charges stemming from the Houston shooting incident.
This case serves as a stark reminder of the potential dangers inherent in domestic disputes. Authorities urge individuals dealing with similar issues to seek immediate assistance.
