Woman accidentally killed by car in front of elementary school

PHILADELPHIA, PA – A horrific accident claimed the life of a pedestrian outside Catharine Elementary School in Southwest Philadelphia early Monday morning. Police reported that around 7:30 a.m., a vehicle lost control in the 6700 block of Regent Street and struck a woman on the sidewalk.

Witnesses described a deeply emotional scene as individuals gathered to offer comfort and support near the accident site.

According to authorities, the driver, a 30-year-old woman, was attempting to reverse her vehicle down a one-way street when she lost control of her vehicle. This caused the car to spin and hit the unsuspecting pedestrian.

The victim, a 65-year-old woman, was immediately pronounced dead at the scene. Although her name has not been released, the incident has left a mark on the local community.

The driver of the out-of-control vehicle remained at the scene. She is cooperating fully with the police investigation. The Saturn involved in the accident was towed away by authorities for a thorough safety examination.
