Volleyball coach fired after molestation of underage girl

MIAMI, FL – Authorities in Miami-Dade County have issued a safety alert following the arrest of a local volleyball coach, Carlos Cruz Concepcion, on allegations of sexual misconduct involving a teenage girl. The arrest has sent ripples of concern through the community, as police suspect there may be more victims who have yet to come forward.

Cruz Concepcion, who had been employed at Bridge Prep Academy in Southwest Miami-Dade, faces serious accusations stemming from incidents reported in 2023. According to an arrest report, a 16-year-old student alleged that Cruz Concepcion touched her inappropriately over her clothing on multiple occasions. Furthermore, it is claimed that he took inappropriate photographs of her during a practice session when she was in her underwear.

The investigation has uncovered that Cruz Concepcion was previously dismissed from his coaching position at the school for sending inappropriate messages to underage students. This revelation has left parents in the community deeply unsettled, prompting many to demand answers and assurances from school officials.

One parent expressed their alarm, stating, “Of course it’s concerning. We need to understand what happened and ensure our children are safe.” The sentiment echoes throughout the community as they grapple with the disturbing allegations.

In response to the charges, Cruz Concepcion reportedly told investigators that if any contact occurred, it was accidental and not intentional. His father, speaking in court, claimed the alleged incident took place on August 1, 2023, while his son was involved in maintenance work at the school.

Adding to the complexity of the case, Cruz Concepcion had also been employed at Divine Savior Academy and 305 Volleyball, from which he has since been terminated. Despite passing multiple background checks, the allegations raise questions about the effectiveness of these screenings.

Miami-Dade police are urging anyone who may have been affected by Cruz Concepcion’s actions to contact Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS. The investigation remains ongoing as authorities seek to uncover the full extent of the allegations.

The community remains on edge as they await further developments in the case, hoping for justice and clarity in a situation that has shaken their trust in those entrusted with the care of their children.
