Video shows dog leaping from second story of home

DETROIT, MI – A disturbing video surfaced showing a dog leaping from a second-story window on Detroit’s west side, prompting swift action and concern from local organizations. The video, sent anonymously, captures the dog hitting the ground and limping away, followed by an individual emerging from the house with what appears to be a stick.

Witnesses described the scene as alarming, noting the apparent anger of the person with the stick. Sources reveal that the dog has not returned since the incident. The footage quickly drew attention from Detroit Dog Rescue, who immediately began investigating.

Christina Rinaldi, head of Detroit Dog Rescue, expressed concern, stating the dog appeared fearful and was likely not aggressive. Her team conducted a welfare check at the residence but received no response. They then consulted with Detroit Animal Care and Control, which had been monitoring the situation since August but had not seen the video until recently.

After viewing the footage, an investigator visited the home and cited the owner for multiple violations, including having too many dogs, lacking licenses, and missing rabies vaccinations. The case remains under investigation, raising concerns about the welfare of other animals and potential issues within the household.

“This is not just about the animals,” Rinaldi said. “We must consider the possibility of broader issues, including the presence of children and potential anger problems.”

The incident occurred near Seven Mile and Telegraph. Despite a thorough search, the dog has not been located. Residents are encouraged to contact Detroit Dog Rescue if they recognize the animal.

The organization remains hopeful that the dog will be found and urges anyone with information to come forward. The community’s support is crucial in resolving this troubling situation.
