UPS delivery driver carjacked at gunpoint

GLENARDEN, MD – A UPS driver encountered a shocking ordeal in broad daylight, as recorded in doorbell surveillance camera footage. The woman was surrounded and her truck hijacked at gunpoint in a residential neighborhood in Glenarden, Maryland. Authorities from the Prince George’s County Police Department were dispatched to the Glenarden housing tract around 2 p.m. on Thursday. This was in response to a distress call from the panicked UPS driver, who had become the victim of this bold hijacking.

Caught in the Ring doorbell video footage, the driver can be heard hiccupping, “They just pulled a gun out on me.” Subsequent footage reveals the group of robbers encircling the driver before absconding with her large, brown truck.

A local resident who shared the video clip with FOX 5 initially mistook the incident for a domestic dispute happening outside. Upon realizing it was a carjacking, he expressed his shock and concern. “It’s very brazen, in the middle of the day. Most of the homes have cameras, so to do that right in front of everybody’s house who has front view cameras, it’s a little unnerving,” said the local.

He further expressed hopes for improved safety within the community and empathy for the need for vigilance in such times. According to this resident, the hijacked UPS truck was later found abandoned nearby. Officials confirmed that the victim was unharmed in the incident, and no arrests have been made as of yet.
