Two dead, two more injured in hit-and-run

SANTA MONICA, CA – A tragic incident unfolded in Santa Monica last night when a driver plowed into a group of pedestrians, resulting in two fatalities and several injuries. The suspect fled the scene on foot, leaving the community in shock and authorities in pursuit.

The chaos erupted around 9:15 p.m. along a bustling section of Wilson Boulevard, where many were enjoying the local shops and restaurants. The driver of a Dodge Charger, for reasons still unknown, veered onto the sidewalk, striking four pedestrians before crashing into a tree and abandoning the vehicle.

Emergency responders arrived promptly, providing medical attention to all victims. Unfortunately, two pedestrians were pronounced dead at the scene, while two others were transported to a hospital, one with potentially critical injuries.

Video footage from the scene captured a person being handcuffed and taken by police, but it remains unclear if this individual is connected to the incident. Law enforcement has not released any details about the suspect or their description, and the driver remains at large.

Authorities are investigating the crash as a felony hit-and-run. While there is no immediate evidence suggesting the act was intentional, investigators have not dismissed the possibility. It is also unclear whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the incident.

The medical examiner was present to remove the bodies of the deceased victims, whose identities have not been disclosed. Officials are working diligently to gather more information about the suspect and the circumstances surrounding the crash.

As the investigation continues, the community remains on edge, eager for answers and hoping for swift justice.
