STATEN ISLAND, NY – A quiet Staten Island neighborhood was rocked by a violent triple stabbing on Friday, resulting in one fatality and two injuries. Law enforcement officials have apprehended one suspect in relation to the incident. The attack occurred in a community where residents are generally well-acquainted with each other.
Residents have struggled to grapple with the sudden eruption of violence in their tranquil neighborhood. The victims, all known to each other, were assaulted in a residence on Sunnyside Terrace. The news of the attack sent ripples of distress through the community, with neighbors seeking solace in each other’s company.
Javier Juarez, a local resident, voiced his alarm and worry when he was unable to contact any of the victims. The elderly neighbor, an 81-year-old man whom Juarez attempted to reach, later died from his injuries at the hospital. The community is mourning the loss of the elderly man, who was fondly remembered as a “beautiful person” by fellow neighbor, Ceasar Figueroa Sr.
Eyewitnesses recounted that the elderly victim was at a friend’s house across the street when the deadly assault took place. The homeowner is currently in critical condition, and others who were in the house during the attack also suffered injuries.
Another local resident, Tifo Zuberi, disclosed that the homeowner’s son was also among the victims. He was reportedly wounded while trying to intervene during the attack. The victims and the suspect were all familiar with each other, adding to the community’s shock and disbelief.
As the investigation progresses, police have detained a neighbor. Detectives continue to visit the suspect’s residence as part of their ongoing investigation.
