Three teens arrested for stabbing 17-year-old victim at school

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, VA – A brutal fight inside Meadowbrook High School on Tuesday ended with a 17-year-old student being stabbed and multiple students facing charges. The Chesterfield County Police Department was alerted to the violent altercation by school administrators at around 12:18 p.m.

The victim was critically injured during the attack and was rushed to a local hospital for treatment. Police apprehended a 14-year-old boy in connection to the stabbing incident. He received charges for assault with a deadly weapon in addition to being charged with possession of a weapon on school property. He is currently being held at the Chesterfield Juvenile Detention Home.

Upon investigating, detectives discovered two other students, both 15-year-old boys, had allegedly assisted the younger boy with concealing the knife after the incident. The pair have since been charged with possession of a weapon on school property and conspiracy after the fact. Following the charges, both boys were released to their parents and are awaiting upcoming court dates.

As for the 17-year-old victim, his condition was reported as stable as of Wednesday. Detectives are still investigating the incident and have gathered that the 14-year-old assailant and 17-year-old victim were familiar with one another. Details regarding what sparked the fight remain unclear.

In response to the violent incident, John Murray, Chesterfield County Public Schools’ interim superintendent, announced that Meadowbrook High School will be closed on Wednesday, with all after-school activities canceled.
