Three people allegedly murdered by a relative

SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ – A tragic turn of events unfolded in a New Jersey condominium on Monday, when three individuals were fatally shot. The suspect, 23-year-old Om Brahmbhatt, has been taken into custody and charged with three counts of first-degree murder.

The incident occurred in a dwelling on Coppola Drive, South Plainfield, around 9 a.m., where law enforcement officers, responding to the scene, found three gunshot victims. The victims were identified as Dilipkumar Brahmbhatt, 72, Bindu Brahmbhatt, 72, and Yashkumar Brahmbhatt, 38.

Dilipkumar and Bindu were pronounced dead at the scene, while Yashkumar was transported to a hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. Om Brahmbhatt, the alleged shooter, was apprehended at the scene without incident.

The connection between Om and the victims, who all lived together, is yet to be clarified. The South Plainfield Police Department has assured the public that there is no threat to their safety. The motive behind this horrific incident is still under investigation.

Om Brahmbhatt is also facing additional charges of second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose. He is currently detained at the Middlesex County Correctional Facility while investigations continue.
